To present electronic systems such as alarm systems, home automation solutions, and lighting systems fully functional to potential customers, these are increasingly being integrated into cases or flight cases. Fully connected and working, plug and play. Or built in such a way that a complete range of rechargeable devices can be charged with a single plug in the case, and the devices can always be presented fully charged. In all these cases, the product can be presented fully functional at every customer visit. No long preparation time, which is convenient for both you and your counterpart. Professional and time-saving. The professional execution and appearance of the cases or flight cases is, of course, of paramount importance to make a convincing presentation.
On-Site Work Equipment
Complete systems are also often integrated into cases or flight cases to perform specific tasks on-site. Think of handy flight cases, smaller than a travel case, fully equipped as a mobile check-in counter for airlines. Or an IP67 waterproof plastic case with an extendable handle and wheels, designed as a mobile identification kit, including laptop, fingerprint scanner, and iris scanner. But simpler systems are also increasingly being integrated into a case or flight case to perform and record measurements in the field. For example, systems where a mini-PC or laptop, together with various specific peripherals, is connected, powered, and fully operational, built into a handy custom case for service technicians. In this case, a professional, durable, and solid execution is crucial for the users’ productivity and the optimal protection of your equipment.
Solutions in Detail
Gefken is a specialist and total partner in the field of system integration in cases and thinks along with you in all situations. From concept to production. From the type of case to the method of integration. What do we focus on in this process? Some important topics include cable management, heat development, ease of use, and the level of integration.
In cable management, we look at:
- How do cables run to and from peripherals or power supplies?
- Are the standard cables provided the right length?
- How are the cables concealed in the interior?
- How can power supplies be best connected to the potential central power supply in the case or flight case?
Because some equipment generates heat during use, we also look at heat development. For example, when power supplies are concealed and covered, so much heat may develop in such a compartment that systems could be damaged or temporarily fail. Passive cooling in the form of cooling slots may help, but sometimes active cooling via one or more fans in the case or flight case is necessary. We, of course, take care of this as well.
Whether the system in the cases or flight cases is for presentation purposes or for work on-site, user convenience is our top priority. We work with you to think about the best layout, workflow, and whether the case should also be used stand-alone, meaning without external power but with an integrated battery.
This is often where we also determine whether systems should be fully integrated so that users cannot swap cables or if users should be able to easily access already connected cables. At this stage, we often also decide which materials we will use for the interior. A machined foam interior, an aluminum mounting panel where equipment and power supplies are mounted, a vacuum-formed strong plastic interior, or perhaps a combination of multiple materials and techniques.
Custom Solutions All the Way
The case or flight case is then designed by one of our product engineers. Fully custom, if desired in your corporate style, and according to the specifications that fit the type of use.
As a manufacturer of the cases or flight cases, our role in system integration, or “mobility solutions” as we also call it, has grown over the years. In this, your choice as a customer is, of course, leading, but after we conduct an analysis of the best layout, there are roughly three possibilities:
- Preparation for Integration: We ensure that the cases or flight cases are fully custom-made, including the interior. Cable throughputs and mounting options are prepared by us so that you can integrate the system yourself. Connectors are provided if necessary, and cut-outs for easy installation are already made by us.
- Semi-Full Integration: In this case, in addition to preparing for integration, we ensure that necessary electronics that are not part of your system are connected. Simply put, we make sure that there are enough outlets and other desired connectors available and connected. For example, by integrating a power strip into the case or flight case and connecting it to a central power supply on the outside. Installing the system in this case is even easier, and the customer does not need to install electronics outside of their scope.
- Full Integration: In this, the most extensive form, we take all installation work off your hands. To do this properly, we would appreciate receiving an installation plan for your system to integrate, so we can install and test everything correctly. The various components are provided by you, and we deliver the cases or flight cases fully operational so you can start using them right away.
Whatever system you wish to integrate to present to your customers or to work on-site with, with our knowledge and production capabilities, we always have a solution at hand.
